Adopt a Student Tuition Assistance

You can be a partner in helping a child or family by sharing your faith and funds with “adopted” students at Mount Carmel. This program provides financial assistance to families who are faced with unexpected economic challenges. It enables them to keep their child or children enrolled , or to begin their child’s Catholic education at Mount Carmel. These challenges are typically temporary or situational. The program is based on economic need, and families must apply each year. The program is designed to provide only a portion of the annual tuition costs. No one is awarded 100% assistance.

In May 2007, we launched the Adopt a Student program. Adopt a Student is an old idea (Tuition Assistance) with a renewed focus, spirit and energy. We have been blessed with many gifts, both large and small and are touched by the generosity of our alumni, alumni parents and parishioners. Since we have launched we have received over $150,000.00 in donations to the program.

Changing Lives

We are grateful for the wonderful generosity of our alumni, parishioners, alumni parents, grandparents and school families. Their donations allow us to increase the amount of assistance we canprovide each year, and rely less on the school operating budget to fund the program. It is because of your gifts that we are able to help students and families who might otherwise not be able to continue their Catholic education.
For the 2009-2010 school year, we plan to provide $85,000 in tuition assistance dollars to families who qualify. Only $25,000 will come from the school’s operating budget, and $60,000 from donations to Adopt a Student.

Changing Lives

May of each year is our designated Adopt A Student drive month where we strive to replenish the reserve set aside from previous year donations.
We reach out to our supporters thru a written appeal and also a pulpit appeal. We strive to share with our supporters in meaningful ways just how your gift has changed someone’s life.
Donations can be made through the remit envelope included inside In Touch newsletters, directly to the school Development Office, or through the second collection on the second Sunday of each month, at all masses.
